Interesting connection: JAMichell owned the machine shop near Transcriptor's premises, and made parts for the Skeleton's predecessor (the Hydraulic, featured in "A Clockwork Orange"). Some writers have erroneously credited Michell with the design of Transcriptor's Hydraulic model. True credit goes to the idea's originator, the late John Gammon. His son runs the company now.

Wow. Bitchin'!

In my place in Brazil I have a Beogram linear tracking turntable. Quite a curiosity...it only accepts B & O cartridges, though...

I have a nice Thorens TD 160 Mk II that I'd be willing to sell to a Forumite for $175.00. No dust cover, though. Near mint condition with plinth, cartridge. PM me if interested.

I used a TD 160 prior to upgrading to the 125. The 160 is a great table especially at that price.

I still have most of my vinyl from the 60s/70s and in recent years I've been buying good records when I can find them. I use a Dual 1245 belt drive turntable that I've owned since the 70s.

It's interesting that this thread popped up this week - just a few days ago I was out at thrift shops and discovered a dealer who has over 3000 records with more coming in. I picked up a very nice copy of ALL THINGS MUST PASS and a few Beatle singles, including an almost pristine copy of HI HI HI b/w C MOON. :)

I have some Beatle albums on vinyl, and my Dad has a ton of albums. I'd listen to them if my record player didn't tune one semitune up all the time.

I've been collecting vinyl since sophomore year of high school (about 14 years) and have managed a good 1200+ albums now.

Yeah, their proprietary cartridge selection is a curiosity.
They're no longer made so if you need a replacement cartridge for one of those turntables, your only option is an aftermarket replacement from Soundsmith, and those start at 200$.
