+1. Thanks for conducting the test, John. i wonder if we A-B'ed the '66 against a new one if we could hear the difference that aged wood makes...

My sole reason for owning a 660/12 in the first place is because I couldn't get along with the spacing of my first Rick 12, a 370/12BB. The 660/12 was like a godsend at the time. But like I said in a previous post, I may have finally "outgrown" the wide neck - between these two, I prefer the playability of the 360/12.

We'll definitely be able to do something like this at MARF, Woodie - say, a brand new 360/12 w/ toasters versus this '66.

Yeah, I too have a '66 360/12 and a 660/12.
Hands down (hands on?) I prefer the 360/12 in tone and playability.
I bought the 660/12 first, after trying out a narrow-neck Rick 12 in a vintage shop.
All it takes is patience to get used to the string spacing.

And it photographs well!

Too true, Jerry. Wish I could get my hands on my old 370/12 Blue Boy again - I would actually be able to play the thing now!

Finally internet has returned to the casa de dog. Awesome vids, JB. I much prefer the 360/12 on all counts. I don't know what it is about the sounds, but I just know I like that one best.

I like the 660 a tad better. Each note in the chords ring through a little clearer to my ears. And overall, it's just a tad punchier.

But really, this whole debate is like trying to decide whether Milton or Shakespeare is better. (Sorry--little English teacher humor there.)

Cool videos, though. I wish there were more Ricks on YouTube.

Just noticed a grammatical error in my post. I should have read it BEFORE I hit the "Submit" button. Don't judge me too harshly! :(

Hey Mark, if you notice an error right after you post, there's an Edit button you can use. It goes away after a certain amount of time.

Oh, and thanks for watching. I would absolutely agree that the 660/12 has the edge in sustain.

Personally, I greatly prefer the 360/12 in both aesthetics and feel. A solid 12 string just feels alien to my hands.

As long as it's being played, I don't think it cares! :D
