Rose Morris Advertisements 1964

Okay this is my first post on the forum after joining! I live in England and have just bought a couple of early 1964 copies of the New Musical Express (NME) which have some interesting early Rose Morris ads for the first batch of Ricks that they were importing. Thought I would do a little test to see if I could post 'em up to share! So, here goes....this first pic was published in NME 17th April 1964. I hope this vintage forum is the right place for this; if not, I'm sure some of you old hands will be real quick to set me right.....

I bought the same RM brochure ads on eBay a few years ago, and the date on them was April 18th, my first birthday.
The interesting thing about these, from the bass perspective, is that McCartney didn't have his Rickenbacker bass yet. Some astute marketing there, along with F.C. Hall's plan to get one into Paul's hands as soon as possible!

The rest, as they say, is history!

What a neat birthday present Andrew - beats any birthday card hands down! I have seen different designs of Rose Morris adverts for Rickenbacker from British newspapers/magazines during the '60's (eg the one picturing Lennon). If anybody on the forum has close-up pictures of those ads and/or details of the exact magazines and publication dates would be great to see.....

These aren't really "advertisements" per se......but here are some brochures for the RM models.

Thanks for these pictures Collin - the first 2 shots presumably show the original colour marketing catalogue which was distributed by RM to UK guitar shops in 1964 and which is referred to in the text of the NME ads I posted earlier...lovely shot of your RM "family" at the end!

I hadn't seen the ad Collin just posted with the Lennon quotes before; RM presumably carried on advertising their Rickenbacker lines in the British music press through '65 and '66 so there are likely more gems to rediscover!! I am going to try to find some more in old editions of NME/Melody Maker etc - if I am successful I will post them here!
