62 330 pics coming soon

Post by marc61 »

My friend Vinny is in the middle of signing up for the forum.

He's going to be posting pics of his 62 330 MG. He purchased it new in 62, and has had it since then.

I don't know much about the old guitars but, he showed me the pics. There's no serial number on the jack plate. On the back of the headstock it says "model 330" and it has a serial number there. He input the serial number into the decoder and nothing came back

Hmmm, very rare guitar if it is indeed a '62. I wanna see. You never see a 330 from '62-'64.

This sounds like one of those that Rickenbacker used a sticker with the S/N on it, a couple of guitars have turned up recently with this; if you do search there has been a couple of discussions about these.

+1. Suggest check the pots to confirm date. Sticker on the back of headstock was a 1965 deal IIRC.

+1. The only one I can recall was a body and neck carcass at RIC hanging up with everything else....

Hard to tell as he showed me pics from a cell camera but, it didn't look like a sticker. He's also confident he purchased it in 62.

Vin told me he registered for the forum and was just waiting for approval so he could post. I told him this was the forum to post under.

Either way, he's curious as well. I see him once or twice a week as I sit in on one of his gigs. We'll get some pics here for sure.

Hey Mark Vinnie here. Just got authorized to post. It was the strat that was a 62, not the rick. Hard to remember but I think I bought the Rick in 64. I bought it at the Sam ash store in White Plains. Before it was Sam ash. Back then I think was called newconn music. It was used but like new. I will take some better pic of it and post if I can figure out how to do that.

I'll help you post the pics if you have problems .

Personally, I like to upload to photobucket then just paste the code here.

62 or 74 sounds like a very cool guitar.

Also add the guitar here: http://www.rickresource.com/register/ - in the upper right, you'll see add new record
