425 from 1964

Post by Medicus1963 »

Hi all,
I recently purchased a Rickenbacker 425 in fireglo. The seller says it is from 1964 but it has a new bridge with no serial number. It seems also refinished including neck and frets !! The electronics also seemed to be modified. Toaster is 7k, but the Pots are not original Rickenbacker as is the wiring. There are no pencil marks in the body and there is routing for only one pickup (no 450).
How can i be sure to have a 1964 guitar ?

Please help !

Thanks

Peter

Peter - Isn't it great, (at moments like this anyway), that we track parted out instruments so closely...

Check the years 1964 to 1966 and it is likely one of the 425s or ES17s on this list.

Sadly the NJ Butcher seems to love parting these 400 series Rickenbacker guitars out. He buys them very cheap typically which maximizes profit..

DL 779 fits the bill. But no guarantees.
