Rickenbacker 420 odd nut ?

Post by Medicus1963 »

Hello all,

I recently got a beauiful 420 in jetglo from 1967. Incredible guitar ! But i have never seen such a nut in a Rickenbacker guitar. It seems to be somewhat hollowed out between the strings ! Could this be original or is it replaced ? The other question is: i mostly see the tuners in this guitars have plastic buttons, but this one has Kluson Deluxe double line tuners! Is this period correct or not ?

Thanks a lot for your help!

Peter

Interesting, a scalloped nut.

Considering that the varnish has been chipped away along the nut, I suspect it's a replacement.

Pretty sure 2x line Kluson Deluxes are correct for 1967. A look through pics in the register will help confirm. Check it out. http://www.rickresource.com/register/

Yes, double line Klusons are correct.
