Hi all, I might be looking at a '67 330 for sale next week. Other than the usual things like evidence of a re- finish, neck/body fit, etc. what else should I be checking on this guitar? Did they all come with the small button style chrome klusons? Did they all have the strap button on the top horn? This one does have a two piece white pick guard. It has the R tail piece, not the vibrato.
One of the mounting screws for the front pickup is missing. There's some where of the finish on the back of the guitar, some of the plating on the chrome is getting old. All to be expected of an old guitar.
Would you say current value on these is $4000 up?

IMO, $4000 would be for a prime condition 330. Sounds like the one you have is not anywhere near that territory, Pics would help if you're looking for more information, value-wise.

You need a picture taken at such an angle that you can see the amount of bridge adjustment height AND the action at the end of the fretboard.

If the action is low and the bridge is low, run away.

If the action is high and the bridge looks low, especially run away.

Search "neck angle" on this forum to learn a lot more.

$3K is too high for a 330/6 in my opinion. Unless it's absolutely mint (and that's not mint), it's more like a $2500 guitar in the U.S. market anyway. If it were a 12-string, $3K would be a lot more realistic.

p.s. check out Chuck's '67 330/6 for sale on this very forum. He knows his stuff with Ricks so buy with confidence, plus Jetglo is much rarer than Fireglo! And it's less expensive..

Some of my greatest playing Ricks have repaired cracks. This one looks rock solid, neck angle is excellent and it's really only a minor cosmetic issue.

Thanks all. A big plus for me is to actually play the guitar before buying it. So I'll be able to play it and check it all out in person next week.

Yes, from that very guitar. I don't know the seller, but I presume he's the one who bought it from me for...PM me for the price. My guess is that biscuit boy is a friend of the current owner/seller.
