Well,

quite easy:

What was the usual material for the saddles in '58 or '59?

Every input is highly appreciated.

Somebody correct me, but I believe zinc for standard bridge saddles, and brass rollers for the Kaufmann bridge saddles.

I think the bridge saddles have always been aluminum, even back then.

Bingo!

Zinc and aluminium are the ones I'm torn between, BTW.

I should add that the "brass rollers" that Scott mentions above were simply the same anchors used as the ball end of many guitar strings.

But the saddles are aluminum.

Such an original roller bridge is here so far.
At first I thought I could use it.

Indeed, ball ends...
Some are movable - some not. QC?!

No, No, I prefer the normal style.
RB is not an option anymore.

Yes, the ball ends frequently became stuck.

In my humble opinion, the roller bridge was a very rudimentary design, that does not seem to help serve its purpose. I typically remove these and install standard saddles or another bridge. When polished, the standard bridge works just fine with a vibrato.
