A Ric 331 question

Post by paulramon1962 »

Just a question: My first post was about which Rick I should get. I think I've decided on a 330 for my first Rickenbacker. Now, things get complicated.
I'm a big fan of the old Lightshow guitars. I don't know a lot about them, just that they are rare and very cool. Has anyone here been bold enough to do a 330 to 331 conversion? If you have, how did you go about doing it? It seems like it would be fun, and I'm sure the results could look fantastic, but can it be done? Anyone who has done this successfully, could you post how much this cost? I'm big on the look of the guitar, both lights on and off.

I've got some ideas, but I want to know how to do it. First you'd need to route 2 really big holes in the face of your guitar, then put the light mechanisms in, and getting the custom pickguard materials... It seems like a lot of work.

Any info would be much appreciated. :)
I'm not angry. Just blasé.

Marc -- check out the search function link in the upper right hand corner. It will lead you to lot's of interesting threads, pictures and stories about 331 LightShow models and the several folks on the Forum who enjoy them. :)
