I've seen worse, and I must confess to being curious about how it sounds. If it was a 6 string with two P90's and chrome covers, with a custom pickguard to compensate for the overhang, i'd be all over that.

my mantra tries to stay with: how does it sound.. that's what musical instruments are for..

but I have to admit [ IMHO ] .. not attractive.. .. the all black pups just looks blocky and out of place.. ..

but: if it had chrome covers.. and pickguard to cover overhang etc. - might look better.. ( and maybe you can get a great sound.. especially if you like P90's)

at least good on the owner for trying something different on his Rickenbacker .. ( which you rarely see.. )

P90s: I have to admit, I love the sound, but have always hated the way they looked. To me they look as bad when I've seen them on a Casino or other Epi. I don't even like the look of the cream colored soap bars.

Yeah, they do look a bit clunky, don't they? I'm not really a fan of the visual effect of putting one on a Gretsch, either.

I'll jump aboard the industrial P90 ugly look train. New covers would tidy up the overall appearance to my way of thinking.
Life, as with music, often requires one to let go of the melody and listen to the rhythm

Chrome dog ear covers, at the very least. But why? Especially when you can get Jason Lollar to wind his "Broiler" pickup to P-90 specs, if it's the added midrange from that coil geometry complete with Alnico bar magnet and adjustible poles you want, and have a direct retrofit that does not alter the guitar?

Probably because this owner had a set of P-90s laying around and decided that he wanted something different looking and sounding. Taste (and lack thereof) are very personal matters and often begin with convenience and end up in baroque flights of justification.

Yeah, it looks pretty baroque to me. Would take a lot to farix it.

P90s do sound pretty good on my Godin though. Specially through my EL34 Phaez.

I love Rickenbackers.I Love P90s. But I don't know, for some reason put the two together and it just isn't the same. Same way I just couldn't fathom say toasters in my ES 295 y'know.
♪♫♪♫I need new strings, these ones have a bunch of dang wrong notes on 'em ♫♪♫♪
