What would you call a thin neck?

Post by dlbeaty »

In my quest to find a 12 string like the first Rick I played on, I am on a definite learning curve. I first saw a 1996 330/12 that felt very comfortable in my hand. I wish I had measured it. Since then I learned that neck thickness varies over the years and with different models. But when I inquire about the neck thickness of the used Vintage and C series models available, I have yet to find any thinner than the current standard models. The measurement of the ones at GC, which I feel are on the thick side, are 7/8" from the fret board at the first fret, to the highest point of the back. Most I have found are from 7/8" to 15/16".

Is 7/8" considered thin for a Rick 12 string?
