RIP Pete.

Quote from the article:

"After some jamming and loose rehearsals it was decided that Pete would team up with us," Dave Davies wrote in his memoir, Kink. "We drew lots to see who would play bass guitar and Pete lost."

Pete's loss = our gain. Thinks of the consequences if Dave Davies was stuck on bass?

The KInks were so THERE In the '60s. You Really Got Me. Yes, they did!

I'm sure I read on this site that he was the 1st (name) bassist in the UK to play a Ric?

Sad news. Looks like there really won't be a reunion of the original members after all. Pete was pretty dead set against it as it was.

Here is another older Pete Quaife thread that I'd added to (good interview link):

My first post - and a sad one at that. One of the coolest bass players. I'm gonna blast out Something Else!

What a sad loss, that really is a big shame. Pete was one of the best originals and a very influential player - always adding to the song, nothing OTT, just very cool and musical.

That happened to ME in 1965.....I had a Teisco 6-string and a Harmony amp with a 6 inch speaker.....in spite of that, I figured I WON that lottery..... 8)

Someone on the Ric corporate forum noted that he was apparently the first well known British bass player to start using the RM1999, so it looks like he started the ball rolling.

Wow, how did I miss this.... Sad news indeed. RIP

The early Kinks music took me from adoring the Beatles music to wanting to play on stage.
