Ronnie Lane
A vastly underrated legend & a true gent, but haven't seem him with a Rickenbacker before now. This was on tour with Clapton as Ronnie Lane's Slim Chance, looks like it could be a 12, or just the lights, a 460? I'd be glad of any info - Thanks.

A true legend - Ronnie would have been 65 yesterday. His solo, post-Faces, material is sublime.

When I run into Ian Mclagan at one of our shows, he always calls me "The Other Ronnie The Bass Player".

Re: Ronnie Lane
Not to derail, but the guy playing bass was a buddy of mine from my time working at the King of Corsica pub in Soho. He worked in the Berwick St market. I only knew him as Brian O'Veg (he sold vegetables in the market, there was another guy named Brian Bananas.) He used to tell me stories about touring Europe with Lane & Clapton on a cruise ship & said Lane was one of the nicest people he had ever met.
PS: Think Mike Scott of the Waterboys ever listened to this tune?

I totally agree. Being a Mod, I'm naturally a massive Small Faces fan but it's only fairly recently I've gotten into Slim Chance.gemspa73 wrote:A true legend - Ronnie would have been 65 yesterday. His solo, post-Faces, material is sublime.
I always knew the song 'The Poacher' as Ocean Colour Scene used to cover it. But Slim Chance have some brilliant material.
A few months back I saw Rod Stewart in my local bike shop. He was buying his son a bicycle, but he seemed generally interested in my Mountain Bike. I really wished I'd asked him what Ronnie Lane was really like, but instead I just made some silly comment about Rangers beating Celtic to the SPL title!!!
I also read somewhere that when he got sick Rod Stewart and Ronnie Wood paid for all his medical bills.

LOL im sure rod would have enjoyed the Gers comments.BTW welcome to the RRF Sam.
