This is awful news. These guitars have something special about them. Scott Thurston's Epiphone Sheraton was used at Concert for George in November 2002 and was the guitar he used on "I Should Have Known It". It was no doubt one of his favorites.

In 1985, Tom was quoted saying that the 360/12 in question was one of his favorite guitars. It was used on every tour since 1980, and a frequently recorded Rickenbacker, being played on songs such as "The Waiting", "Rebels", "Dogs on the Run", his "Feel a Whole Lot Better" cover, "Depending on You", "Walls" and "Saving Grace".

Luckily, though Mike's Broadcaster was not stolen (Mike's wife Marcie refuses to let Mike take his Broadcaster out the house, he probably gave her a big hug and kiss after this!). It is a shame that Ron Blair's similar model was. Ron is not much of a guitarist, but claims he can play a passable rhythm guitar. We should also be thankful that the thieves did not get their hands on more than what they did.

There is a (temporary) solution to replace the 360/12. Of course, it's not as good as getting back, but certainly an option, should Tom want to replace it. Norm Harris has an identical 1966 model at his shop (http://www.normansrareguitars.com/ricke ... leglo.html) (side note, I've played this guitar and it is AWESOME). Knowing how the world works, Norm probably already knows and is on the lookout for the stolen guitars or replacements for the band.

LAT has some of it right...no details

But here is the scoop...from the horses mouth ...the Pawn shop owner...

The case was solved in the first twenty four hours.
Inside job . Long story short . Security company fired.
Just talked to Howie ..Rickenbacker still not returned...sold to TP by Howie in '79 or '80...at the Lankershim store. Thief walked into his Hollywood Pawn shop w/ Blood stained (?) SG and 70' refinned Tele too ,(still waiting to hear if it was actually a Broadcaster. Perpetrator was picked out of a lineup. & all guitars are expected to be returned to the band soon!!
