I was in Athens, GA this week, and had the chance to visit the R.E.M. rehearsal studio... Mike has at least 3 black Rickie basses (possibly 4 as D. had one in his car and there were three in the rack)... and he owns a 1950s Tulip guitar, like the one below but then it the greenish colour:

Peter Buck's brass nuts and bridges are STARZ parts from the 1970s. Whenever they find some, they convert another of his Rickies.

Thr Starz bridge that someone put on my old pawnshop 4002 was great.
I wouldn't hesitate to use one on any 4001/3 type bass again.(if i could find one,that is).

Mills' green, tulip shaped Ric had been missing. I was doing some work for them when it was located. Lots of cool stuff in there!
