Just had a fret job & it opened up the sound.

My 370WB needed a re-fret since I bought in in '94. My bandmate and former Taylor employee gave it to his mentor from Taylor and in two days my guitar came back with it's tone unlocked! The nut was worn & was replaced with Corian and I had requested fast low action and an oiled fretboard. Besides being beautiful it somehow made useful some of the tone positions that had formerly not distinguished themselves. Amazing work!

The piezo is here to stay & I'm going to switch to the bridge from my '98 330 with the wider spacing & the midi pickup. Jamie who worked on the guitar even suggested moding the electronics like Brian May since I had wanted series/parallel so I can boost the signal output as I add pickups. Overkill guitar capability is almost here.

I'll get pics soon.

Wow, where's the pics? Sounds interesting, piezos, midi, and passive with Brian May style electronics on a 370WB? Love to see how you wired that all up.

Prolly like Brian May did...

The most significant thing that Jamie did was to replace the bakelite nut with Corian, which is 30% denser while still lending some dampening and sweetening to the metallic edge of the tone. I wonder what sort of strings he fitted? This could be a good part of your perceived positive tonal change, too.
