Dark patches on my Mapleglo
I've only had my Ric 330 MG for 6 months and yet dark patches have appeared on it. I've kept it in its case in the lounge and only ever used the Ric yellow cloth. I have occasionally used the Brillianize spray. I don't understand it. I haven't had new clothes so nothing could have rubbed off on it. I've looked after the guitar immaculately. It seems to be where my arm rests on the upper part of the head and where it rests against my chest...Does anyone have any idea what this is? Can it spread? Will it affect the tone of the guitar with the wood discoloring? Is this covered under the warranty?.......It's kind of deflating..I've spent a lot of money and love the guitar and looked after it...I'm baffled..................I've tried to post some pics but can't seem to do it correctly..........(The dark patches look dirty, almost like mould on bread)

Re: Dark patches on my Mapleglo
Brillianize spray is OK for Ricks with matte finishes, but not for glossy Ricks, which need real wax. Hence my recommendation of Zymol.

Seems pretty much impossible that it would, but it's a problem in its own right.david/wales/u.k wrote:Will it affect the tone of the guitar with the wood discoloring?
If it looks "moldy" could it be that green mold that was getting on people's guitars a few years ago? Happened to me and it was buffed off in a few seconds.
Like JB said, contacting RIC CS is the first thing you should do if this is a new instrument.

I bought the guitar from Sound Affects Uk
Re: Dark patches on my Mapleglo
I would contact the shop first David. The UK sales work differently from the US and it will need to be raised with the shop/Rosetti the distributor.
Here are David's photos for info.

Needs to be Swirl-X from Halfords now Scott - they changed the formula and Scratch-X is now more abrasive than it was/should be.
