You probably don't need a new nut. Just fill the bad slot and have a new slot cut.

If you don't like it, you need a new nut. I don't think you can "move" one slot over on a Ric 12-string, no way. If high E means treble E, if you move it too close, your palm may mute it when holding certain chords like open E. While I find the stock Ric nut to be OK, it's not good enough for me. Way too little space on there to be sub-optimum.

Well, I believe the OP's 360 is a 6 string. But as a matter of fact, I did move the high E string in on my 360/12 (it was just a wee bit too close to the edge for my taste). Since then, never had an issue.

Ok. New pre cut nut has arrived. The top (treble) e sot does look slightly more away from the edge, so its worth a try.

My next question... How do I remove the old nut? Are they glued in? Its seems pretty secure in there.

Thanks!

Standard technique: place a block of wood against the nut on the fret side, and tap it gently with a hammer until the nut pops loose.

Also, don't forget to score around the edges with a razorblade, so the nut doesn't take any finish with it.
