add phase switch to 480 ?

Hi,

Would there be any thing to be gained by adding a phase switch to a 480 with high gains ?
I'd rather ask before doing something stupid...thanks.

Yes...you can thin out the sound somewhat by making one pickup out of phase with the other.

Fender got a similar effect on the Jaguar by simply introducing a .003 mf capacitor between the choke switch and ground.

Thanks, now I understand why this feature is on the 481 and not the 480 : I guess it has to do with the humbuckers on the former.
