Bigsby Bridge Height and string slipping problem

Post by Medicus1963 »

Hi all,
I just want to give you some pictures how i solved the problem.
My Bigsby Bridge was too high, i only had an action over the 12 fret on low and high E more than 3 mm ! So i filed down the edges of the bridge for the radius of the height adjustment screws. This solved the problem !! Action is now 2 mm.
Next problem was slipping strings. On my other 325 with compressed round wounds , it is not a problem. Strings stay in place, only because of their tension. But with flatwounds this did not work. So after strumming hard in the Lennon way, the strings slip and make a sort of "meeting" in the middle of the bridge! So i filed out slots for the strings and polished the slots to prevent string braking and friction.
Voila, wonderful players guitar.
I hope i described the process precisely enough, for this is difficult with my poor school english. Maybe I could help some people which have the same problem.

Thanks

Peter
