"R" tailpiece vs Accent Vibrato

Post by whojamfan »

Are there any tonal differences in tone between the 2? Thinking about switching my R to the accent but want to know what I may gain or lose in the process.

I can't say I notice a tonal difference Mike, but let me know if you want an Accent, I have one for sale...

Oh, and is the accent vibrato a direct replacement on a 2011 330, or do I need to mod anything?

If the end-mount screw hole footprint doesn't match, you can always do without the side screws and just rely on the end pin connection. That's what I did with my 320 and it worked fine.

The accent is great if you like having to retune the guitar constantly.

Never had major tuning problems with an Ac'cent. It's at least as good as a Strat trem tuning-wise, and probably better. Make sure your nut is filed correctly.

BTW if you can spare the $$$, and bug the guy enough to get him to email you back, Winfield Vintage makes adapters.

No tuning issues with my Accent whatsoever once the strings have settled.

Got that out of my system, sticking with the R. Need the straplock and holes peeking out through the tailpiece are the spoiler for me.

I had a factory installed Accent on my 1961 - 375 FG. It worked really well and I played many gigs with it.

I also like both the R tailpiece and the Trapeze. The Trapeze makes a guitar a little brighter sounding acoustically IMO and the R seems to add a bit more sustain.

Just my two cents for what it is worth Mike.
