4004 wiring diagram?

Post by sloop_john_b »

Anybody have a 4004 wiring diagram? The ones on the RIC site are too confusing for this novice. :)

Thanks!

If I remember Joey's beautiful picture diagram well enough, each pickup hot lead goes to opposite pole ends of the DPDT switch (on/on/on) and meet up at the volume pot by way of a wire from the switch's center lug, where the wiring proceeds almost identical to a P Bass. If you want it to be exactly how RIC does it I think you may need his picture as they wire the tone pot a bit differently than Fender (I think the cap precedes the joint with the center lug and the CCW lug is grounded), but the results are the same.

The tone cap is inline on a 4004, whereas on a Fender it's soldered to the #3 lug and back (ground) of the tone pot. It actually works better that way, particularly when it's not a cheap "chicklet" cap as found in a 4004. The results are not the same.
