Anyone mix a humbucker and a toaster together?

Post by sentionaut »

Wondering whether anyone has ever tried to have a toaster and a HB-1 on the same guitar?

Is that asking for trouble?

I kinda like the idea of having a humbucker on the neck and toaster on the bridge, would they play nicely together? I appreciate a change in pots/caps would be needed.

This will work, but the red and blue wires on the HB1 need to be reversed since HB1's are out of phase with RIC single coil pickups. The pots for the HB1 pickup should be changed to 500K, and the tone cap to a .022-.033uF in order to get more clarity out of it. I stock the correct parts for this.

I installed a toaster in the neck and a hb1 in the bridge position of a 330w
This way the output is balanced very well.
All the switch positions are useable.

The Susanna Hoffs model mixes a humbucker in the bridge with two toasters.

Hi Simon.. did you ever do this mod? if so, how did it go?

I was thinking of doing the exact same thing to my 650d.. keep the HB for neck.. and get a toaster for the bridge... But I really didn't want to to do any other changes such as pots or caps...
