The picture below shows vintage X-brace versus modern.

BTW the earlier shot which is supposedly a V64 looks like an Arnquist DIY special, it's not a standard V64. The V64 series guitars did not have X-braced bodies (their body construction is like the standard New Style shown in the picture). The C63 series guitars do have '60's style X-bracing. If you play a V64 back to back with a C63 they sound completely different (the C63 has an immediately obvious louder/more resonant sound unplugged); the difference is similar to what you hear with a Gibson ES330 versus ES335.
