THIS IS NEW FIREGLO?

Post by jingle_jangle »

Seller in UK says this is "new, unplayed".

In color and pattern, it's unlike any FG I've ever seen. There's no shading on the sides, and the rest is deep brown fading to red.

Any comments?

looking at the series of photos the one in the case looks to be the best one.In saying that the center is definitively got more of a amber than the usual i would say that its the camera imo.

I agree that it's the seller's camera creating the odd shading and coloring.

Here's a photo by the same seller of a new 4003:

Looks a bit odd to me.

I wonder what type of filter they use for the pictures?

The seller says; "The Rickenbacker 360 6 String Electric Guitar brand new in the very very sort after FireGlo.. These are extremely hard to get now a days."
If the picture has a filter the seller try to fraud the people. That is my opinion.

I think they just used one of those cameras that has a limited contrast ratio, which often manifests itself in the red range. Whatever software they used to prepare the photo for publication could also be the culprit.

This is a great Rickenbacker dealer; i suspect they're much better at guitars than they are at photo prep.

I'll bet that, in fact, this is a very nicely shaded instrument in the style we've delivered in the last few years, which would be what they are saying.

Pictures sell is the slogan of the sales team I'm in. I know the last few years has seen a great FG colour: my 340 is absolutely stunning, yet, with a picture looking like that, on a site like eBay where pictures is almost all you have to go on, it kills the sale! Which is a waste as the current FG looks so beautiful on the 360!

Amen, Werner, and as long as JH, Ben, and Eric keep turning them out like that, dealers need to invest in a $200.00 camera to do them justice!

A lot of Holgas can do better than most cell phones. I have printed negs from a couple that did not look at all like what one would expect from a Holga. 8)

True Red.jpg
Well, if you take it into Photoshop and use the color thingy (very technical talk) in the gray areas, you can see his camera shot it a bit warm and slightly over-exposed.

Getting closer to the real color, as I have done in this adjustment, it is probably an AFG. With this proper color tweaking, it is still warm in the center and FG red on the sides.

I am not sure what kind of lights he is shooting under, but you can see the shaded part of the guitar in the shaded far end of the case is showing color closer to a RIC and the exposed part warms up quite a bit, which could be his camera setting (maybe set for outdoors or whatever those non-Holga point-and-shoots do ).

So Holga or no, I say it is a stock AFG 360.

That's my story and I'm stickin' to it:
