Help needed on Headstock dimensions
Hi,
I have to repair a total damaged headstock of a friends 4003. Can anybody help me out with some measurements? This would be great. Thank you.

b=width through middle of A string machine head
c=as on picture...

I've got a 4001 I could measure if that would help.

.
Here you are.
My best-efforts measurements:
Top to bottom > 9 1/2 "
Top side to top side > 3 5/16 "
Lower side to lower side > 3 7/8 "
One thing to consider. The only bass I have available to measure right now is a 1971, and I'm looking at the headstock and wondering....I wonder if the volute is a bit different than my later basses. Perhaps "longer". So that would affect the first measurement. Use your judgement.....I've posted two photos to consider.....
hope your project goes well - -

Re: Help needed on Headstock dimensions
Headstock dimensions vary from year to year. My first question would be, "what year is the bass you're working on?"

You might get a '98 4003 owner to make a tracing of the headstock and send it to you along with the dimensions.

Here's the numbers I got:
A = 20.8 cm
B = 8.7 cm
C =9.5 cm
Hope it will help you getting the bass back to life!
