SERF clinic ideas

Post by jdogric12 »

Hi everybody. Plans for SERF are underway!

After speaking with the other two SERF co-founders, Tony C and Kris L, I thought I'd post here to solicit suggestions for Rick-related clinics. We already have Soldering 101, How To Pull Adjust And Pull Truss Rods, Scratch X And Zymol, and a few other ideas kicking around. Please post your ideas here and we'll consider them.

Also don't forget to check out the other SERF threads for hotel info, and please book your rooms! If we get 15 parties to stay 2 nights each, we get a huge discount on the conference room!!! :) So, though we're not charging admission, your participation is greatly appreciated.

Soon I'll post for head counts for the evening events, but we dont' have to worry about that quite just yet.

I have a great idea for a clinic: How to eat dim sum with chopsticks while playing your Rick.

I'm in!

OH MAN, I LOVE DIM SUM!

But, I'm looking forward to learning ANYTHING tech related. Soldering tips, trouble shooting wiring troubles, FIXING the jack fingers, you name it, I need to learn how to do it.

Life is good, Chinese food & Rickenbacker's. 8)

I don't remember - is SERF one or two days? If only one, that is not really enough time for clinics and to get all the visiting and sightseeing in. At MARF, though I DO NOT regret the time I spent on the 3 instruments, there were many people I did not have time to visit with like I wanted, and many instruments I never got to pick up or play. Something to consider.

I think the plan is for two days of eating Chinese food and one for Ricks, or is it three days of both combined?

Saturday will be all confluence, with the clinics on Sunday morning. Friday night we'll do the dinner thing, and Saturday night I'm putting an event together for everyone. This leaves people the option of doing either clinics or Disney on Sunday.

Here's our clinic ideas currently:

Soldering 101
Adjusting Truss Rods, old style
Adjusting Truss Rods, new style
Do Your Own Setup, guitars
Do Your Own Setup, bass
Stringing a Rick 12-string

I'll take the 12-string one. Any volunteers to teach the others? I can do new truss rods and the setups if needed, but I don't want to hog all the teaching time when we have serious Rick experts attending!

I NEED the classes myself!

I'll bring my Peterson Strobe Tuner if you think we can use it.

Here a hint. It's not Chris Squire. That should narrow it down, huh? Only 5,999,999,999 people left!

We can now add "Resetting a Separated Fingerboard to the Neck" Clinic.
We have a volunteer and a subject for the process.
