Teeny-con 2009: San Francisco Bay Area "JingleJam"

Post by kiramdear »

This will be the information source for SF Bay Area members and special guests (?) regarding post-holiday show-and-tell/jam session to be held on January tenth at Paul W's house in Mill Valley. Space is limited, and we have about six members already warming up their chops per invitation. Anyone wishing to attend should stay tuned to this thread or make yourself known and get on the list.

I'll put up a list of songs (modelled after GaryC's list from SoCalCon) and we can add songs or comments at will. I will be preparing a package of charts and lyrics as well and could post them here. It's not a hard and fast list, just a wide range of suggestions that enough of us could be prepared to play as the mood strikes us.

So that's about it. No airport shuttle. No broadband simulcast hookup. Just a handful of us provincials wantin' to share the post-holiday rickenspirit together for an afternoon in a small but gracious venue.

Stay tuned or submit your questions comments and jokes about the song list and other musical concerns here. In the morning I'll post it as it stands right now. Other types of questions about directions and such should be directed to Paul (jingle_jangle) by PM.

Jingle Jam, Jingle Jam, Jangle all the way ...

My apologies for not getting this up sooner. Here's a list as it has been initially proposed. Any other suggestions should be posted here and we'll keep the discussion about it going until everyone is comfortable with the list. If anyone has trouble with finding tabs or lyrics they could bring that up here, too, and we'll get them posted.

So thanks, everyone, practice hard and we'll show 'em all the way it should be done Sunday week.

Have fun guys! Sounds like it's going to be a blast, and those songs are fun to play for anyone Gary, so I don't think you're showing your age at all. :D

Thanks Paul! :D

Now that I think about it, that looks a lot like the song list from the first band that ever let me play with them.

OK, here's an unconfirmed and highly suspect list of actual forumite attendees, gleaned from my PM correspondence on the subject to date:

John (johnashfield)
Paul (jingle_jangle)
George (kenposurf)

hmmmmmm ... these three already know each other from somewhere?

Gary (modrock)
JR (CrestingWave)
Tim (tsarter)
Kira (kiramdear)

I think that's everyone. Anyone else who wants to come should pipe up and make yourself known.

Thanks, Kira...

Quite a daunting list for a four hour get-together, if you include the requisite "show and tell" time...

More of a "rockin' the night away" proposition. Great!

I think the list is good because the songs are familiar and there's a lot of them. The more we go over by ourselves, the better the chance of getting a few down really well together. I think.

Anyway the songs look great. There are only a few of which I'm not sure. I don't think we'll feel any pressure to play everything on the list, but it's just nice to have a lot to choose from. And everyone doesn't have to play every song. I'm afraid by back wants frequent breaks anyway,

I hope we have a drummer :?:

Just two things today:

If a member wants to bring a guest, spouse, etc. it is good to let Paul know about that as soon as possible.

YouTube is a good source for learning the songs "from the horses' mouths".

Sorry to one and all, but the Jingle Jam has been cancelled due to low attendance.

I hope we get another opportunity this year :)

Sorry to hear this was cancelled... I have been out of town, so missed that it was happening on the 10th...

Hopefully there will be another one...
