I'm not quite sure how to take this comment...
it was not a putdown, if that's what you're thinking. 8) Just saying that Bob is most welcome to join in on the fun. :D

kenf wrote:Anyway, I may have found a decent venue. It's a subdivision clubhouse where another member lives on the far west side of St. Charles. It's inexpensive, too.

I contacted three hotels locally but each blew me off when they heard it was a guitar gathering.
That sounds great, Ken.

I am surprised about the hotels, as I had no such issues with any of the hotels I approached when planning RIO!!!

Is there a time frame for when this event is going to occur? If it's in October I can probably help out.

If there are several Chicagoites around, perhaps you can all pool your resources and get this to happen. All that is needed is a venue to show off display instruments, have some food available, and ideally, a joint in the evening to have a party/jam. Shari and I pulled off RIO!!!, just the two of us; we started our plans months in advance to gives folks plenty of time to make their schedules align with that weekend. We did have Friday evening planned for an informal dinner/get-together, and Sunday morning was the ORRFDSE (Official RRF Dim Sum Extravaganza)!

We looked at several hotel meeting rooms and ended up using Residence Inn as they had a room and facilities that met our needs at a very reasonable price, plus their breakfast is quite good for those that stayed there. Shari and I found a sports bar with a good size stage and space for the evening party (ask Graham how it went).

You guys can do this with just a little bit of effort. :D

holy schnikies.....new member here.....who is the gorgeous blonde? She's just stopped my obsessive Rickenbackering....I see blonde and blue instead of FireGlow red when my eyes close......

I'm down here in the Confederacy, but I grew up in Naperville....lived in Aurora for awhile....played in a dozen bands in the 20+ years I was there.....Chicago has the best musicians on the planet, dudes....trust me.....if a Rick confluence gets going for Aurora/Naperville, send me an email....

Is anything going to develop here? It seems like the interest was strong -- does anyone want to revisit this? I'll do what I can from St. Louis to help.

Gang -

Sorry for taking a powder for so long - real life intruded.

Is there still interest in doing this?

OK, let's try and get a count, that'll help me determine an appropriate venue.
