Jeff T's Ruby 4003S - my finish favorite this time. Runners up was his and Paul's Minks, Rick King's 381 FG (and nice maple), Melissa's PurpleBurst, and Paul's 2002 COY Burgundy. Favorite bass to try out - probably Paul's Shadow, it played like butta, as they say. Runner up was Jeff S's 5-string Martin Keith fretless. What tone!

Thanks Paul for hosting!! This was my first confluence and I quite enjoyed the gathering on Sunday. And John you actually took a picture of me I don't hate. It must be the Rickenbacker. :D

  Glad you checked in here. Lots of guitar and music areas to keep you occupied so I hope you hang around. A great bunch of nets around here. It was really good to meet you and Karen, glad you decided to come to Milwaukee.

I very much enjoyed teaching Keith Only Wanna Be With You by Hootie & The Blowfish, it is a real fun song to play.
That photo of JT's ruby b as does not do it justice, that silveryness and glow of the finish is amazing. I am planning on refinishing my 4005WB in that color.

Thanks for the instruction Jeff! Unfortunately I suffer with a rather John Lennon sense of timing, but I'll work on it.

And John I've been lurking around here for years, but will definitely pay closer attention. Oh and my wife is Nancy. She went through a couple different names during the day. I can't remember anyones name two seconds after I meet them.

Me, too. I first introduced Nancy as "Kathy" then "Karen;" she must remind me of a Kathy and a Karen in the spongey recesses of my mind. Hey, I'm old now. They say memory is the second thing to go. The first is, umm . . . what's first again? Oh, yeah, Who's on first! :D

Jeff S is right - that picture does NOT do the finish justice. I tried many shots with/without/blocking the flash but it always turns out more washed and oranger than it is, a nice deep metalic red with a touch of black in it. And Jeff T has it in top shape all polished up.

Here it is in the registry - the Close Up - Free2 is pretty close to representing it.

Last minute plan change prevented me from driving down from St Paul. I made the last one in '06 and was really looking forward to this. There's always next time and hopefully I'll have another Rick by then :!:
