Not sure about the sound without trying it out, but it sure has the looks, imo!

Was wondering what VOX was going to unveil. This blue AC4 will be a must purchase for me.

Was always interested in buying one of the AC4 models, and now that I just bought a blue Rickenbacker, how can I refuse this blue AC4?

Beautiful amp, I have his brother AC4TV and sound great. Mine has 1/4, 1/2 and 4W selector and the new blue vox has volumen, master volumen, trebble and bass and 2 preamp valves instead only one of the AC4TV.

NAMM 2012: Vox AC4C1-BL Custom Series

Post by 8mileshigher »

I was visiting the Vox sound room at NAMM two weeks ago and the Vox tech was giving a demo of this little Blue AC4 and I was surprised at the sound level this little one could kick out, compared to its bigger cousins, the AC15 and AC30. Definitely it had the full range. With the volume controls low on the guitar, that vintage, Vox chimey tone was sweetly ringing out and when he cranked the volume controls up on the guitar, that little Blue AC4 responded with that overdriven, beefy sound. :)

Real nice looking Blue color too !!

Thanks for giving the first review anywhere of this new amp. Glad to see it was a good one.
When they hit the stores I'll try one out. Hope I find it to be a winner as you did.

I absolutely love my little AC-4TV. Can't wait to give one of these a go.

You guys are welcome !! These Blue meanies are great little amps and if I already didn't have four Vox amps, I would definitely get one. :D Its a perfect little amp and very versatile for small performances, gigs, rehearsals, jam sessions or just practicing at home. Maybe my ears were a bit num from the intensity of sound levels at NAMM, but the Vox Tech was demo-ing this Blue one in their sound room, right next to an AC15 with the 12 inch speaker and I was having trouble telling the difference between the little Blue one and its much bigger cousin, when he was switching back and forth. A lot of sound (and that desireable Vox tone) from a small package ! :D

I took a picture of the blue line-up at the NAMM show last month:

If the booth hadn't been so crowded I would have taken a few more!

Is this a new colour, or did they once already exist as such in the past?

I use to have a little Vox in the vintage look, but this blue is just way better!

I'm no Vox amp expert, but I had a 60s AC-4 in Charcoal, which was a very dark blue, really blue-black:
1960s AC-4 Charcoal and ca. late 1967 or early 1968 Fender Bandmaster
1960s AC-4 Charcoal and ca. late 1967 or early 1968 Fender Bandmaster
It's hard to see in the picture, but in person it was clear that the Vox was not black like the Bandmaster next to it.

If this new one sounds like my old AC-4 sounded, then it's one great little amp!

I still regret selling that AC-4 ...

I snapped this photo at the show whilst walking about with Rich, Joey, Diane, and Gary. . . . an promptly messaged it to Kenny Howes, who was at the RIC booth; you know how crazy Kenny is for colored tolex AC 30s. :D

...why yes, I suppose I do have a double bound guitar fetish...

Well, mine arrived today.

Will give her a workout later. So far she looks great with my blue Rickenbacker:

Thanks.

I like this picture and it is the reason why I bought this AC4.
I have a blue strap, blue picks, blue capo, blue coil cable, blue guitar...I really had to get a blue amp.
