I have an Elpico AC-55 amp that needs to be repaired. This is the same model of amp used by Dave Davies and Paul McCartney in early days. It is in great shape cosmetically but something's wrong inside. Complicating factor is that it runs on 220V so not the normal 110V setup. I've tried it through a step-up voltage tranny but no luck.
Can anyone refer me to a competent US-based amp tech who works on UK amps?
Thanks much. Here's some pics so you know what it is:

Quick question Ron, when you had it plugged in through the step-up transformer, did the tubes glow?

Ron, PM sent!

Good question, John. The rectifier tube glowed and heated up but that was it. Power tubes were cold.johnallg wrote:Quick question Ron, when you had it plugged in through the step-up transformer, did the tubes glow?

Guessing there is a resistor burned out and possibly a shorted tube that took out the resistor. Hope Jeff's lead is productive for you.libratune wrote:Good question, John.
