Wow! You've gotta hand it to Frank. He is giving us players lots of great options! Thanks, Frank!

I agree. How many different versions of this thing are there now? It's really a nicely made product, and the lengths that he is going to in order to please all of us picky Rick bass players and all of our unique wants is very impressive.

Now we need a version that will fit the RI horseshoe/4003S/5 bobbin!

It's also cool that the finish is matte black, so it doesn't stand out; it is pretty much invisible-it's the same color as the space/void is when the bridge p/up cover is removed. :)

No word on the new bridge he was working on anymore on the website unfortunately. I was very curious how that would become.

As I remember, he was coming out with a redesigned set of lock down saddles for around $80.00, not a whole bridge.

I am still interested. If he is as flexible as he is with the bezel's, than I could have a solution for my early '73 on which the sadles are too deep now.

Hi Ilan
I just saw the pictures of your kids 4001 with the 4003 bezel installed. I have a 4001-deluxe bezel that has a slight blem on it that I can send out to you for free. The blem is barly noticable. It will fit way better that the one thats in there now. Those bezels are supposed to fit flush. The 4001 chrome surround openings are a bit smaller that the later 4003 openings. You can see in the pictures that it's not sitting flush and the spring pressure is causing the bezel to bow in the center. The one I can send out to you would fit perfect. :?:

That's nice that this guy keeps responding to everyone's requests so quickly. I was sort of envisioning a dimple above the pickup that allowed your thumb to rest on the pickup though.

Frank is awesome. Real nice guy and very accomodating. I just bought three of the cove bezel's. A pleasure to deal with him.

The easiest thing to do with your '73 is to drop a set of new saddles in there without using the screws. Slot them and then tap them to where you need them. String pressure should keep them from moving as long as your bridge isn't tilting backward too.

Well there's a thought. Quite a good one I must say. Thanx!

I've decided to get one of these bezels for the new 4003 JetGlo. Which one is what I'm deciding. Why would one choose the cove model over the deluxe with the thumbrest? Does the cove model allow your fingers to get closer to the strings and for smaller hands perhaps closer to the G string? Also, does the standard model still allow you to anchor your thumb somewhere, such as on the pickup surround?

Even after having read both threads on this subject, I'm trying to get a sense of what the exact application is for each model based on user preference and finger-plucking style. I emailed Frank who responded quickly and was very helpful but I wanted to also elicit opinions here as well based on user experience with the three different models.

Thanks!

I think its personal preference. That and maybe esthetic? Sorry this isnt much help. I went with cove bezels. No regrets
