I can't believe it! I just got the standard bezel two weeks ago and I love it, but having one with the thumbrest would be great!

i knew someone would listen to me. may be not close enough to where i usually play on the actual coil, but a step in the right direction. kudos.

Really? I don't know, to me that seems like it would just get in the way--as much as I like the Tubeampology bezels already. If I buy another it'll remain standard. Still I gotta give credit to Frank for perceiving a demand and marketing to it.

you're right. since that cradles up under the surround, that post would stick up and be in the way of picking, perhaps. i'd prefer a thumb dimple right near the coil.

I, too, just got a standard one. Has anyone tried this one? Looks cool. When I got a FL, I think I will give it a try. Try as I might, I just can't suss out the whole floating thumb thing.

Hmm, I'm tempted. On my 4001 I rest my thumb on the pickguard, but this thumb-rest might actually be about where it is on my Alembic. Although I play with a pick a lot, I'm not too concerned about it getting in the way, since I tend to pick in between the front pickup and the neck. I don't like to pick right over the pickups anyway, sometimes the noise of the pick hitting the pickup comes through!

EDIT: Looks like I won't be getting it - it's for the 4003 and mine's a 4001...

You can use it in a 4001.

My kid's 4003S has the flat surround (what Frank calls a 4001 surround) so according to Frank I should have used the flat bezel, and I still used the "model 4003" bezel inside it, it fits very well, and since I have lowered the pickup to match the neck pickup's output, it's now flush with the lower level of the bezel, so it's actually better suited for the bass than the flat "model 4001" bezel.

Here's the flat "4001 MHG" model - I think the stepped bezel actually works better in the flat surround.

I think it looks like a great product and would probably get one if I decided to abandon the cover. But it actually serves my style to have a place in that spot to rest my palm.

Will one of these fit in a V63 with the shoes removed?

I don't think so unless you modify it. The RI horseshoe bobbin is larger, wider and the ends are more oval than rectangular.

That's nice that this guy keeps responding to everyone's requests so quickly. I was sort of envisioning a dimple above the pickup that allowed your thumb to rest on the pickup though.
