Jeff, if the height adjustment screws don't fit into the holes in the tailpiece, the bridge will tilt no matter what you do probably sooner than later. The screws extenting down into it is what keeps it from tilting in the first place. The older 70's bridges often tilted because the holes weren't very deep at the time. I had only one bass at the time, my '75 4001, and it's bridge was always working it's way backward. The new ones don't. Look at a RIC guitar bridge. Because the height adjustment screws don't extent down into the bridge plate, there has to be four of them or the thing will flip over. A Les Paul's bridge has two adjustment screws, but they are large and extent down into the body. As far as returning my 8-string to stock for the next owner goes, well, I plan to be the last owner

If you want to be able to put the stock bridge back on after drilling out the tailpiece simple re-drill and tap the old bridge to the same size screws as the new one. This would make both bridges interchangable and prevent any tilt problems. If you are concerned about resale I doubt any potential buyer is going to measure screw and thread pitch sizes.

Well, I can't actually take it with me when I go, but I'm sure that which ever musically inclined family member gets it, they will be happy to have it. Every time I pick it up, I feel like I'm playing it for the first time. I love the thing.

Hello, I made them and they're all gone. Seems like there's been more interest lately, so I may do another run if it's OK with Mr. Hall.

Let's see if I can get a tally and I'll check with Mr. Hall and my machinist.

Also would like to hear from anyone that bought one and if they have any thoughts for improvement.
