8 String Bass Bridges with 8 Saddles

Post by teeder »

I don't know if this is OK to post here or if it should be in the for sale section, but here goes.

I am in the process of making a batch of 8 string bridges with individual saddles for each string. They will be CNC milled out of aluminum, with the bridge chromed and the saddles plain. I don't have a price yet, but should soon. I plan on making 6 assemblies right now.
I took on the chore to make one for a fellow forum member, but I can get the price down by making more than one.
Please let me know if you're interested.

Sign me up! I LOVE my 4003S/8, but the intonation drives me a little batty, being pretty much a "happy medium". I recently bought a Hamer B12S, and having separate saddles for the octave strings makes a HUGE difference.

Kevin kindly contacted me about this before proceeding and I told him it was fine. He's going to mark them so that there's no confusion that these are not factory parts.

It's too bad others haven't offered us the same courtesy as Kevin did . . .

Cool Kevin, I guess I will wait until I know your price to get involved. I have been thinking about converting a bass to an 8er.

Is this going to be interchangeable with the stock bridge in that it's just a bridge that fits into the stock tailpiece? Do you have a pic you could show us?

When I had a batch of 5-string bridges machined out of brass a few years back, I also emailed JH to ask if it was okay. It seemed like since I was having a stock Rickenbacker part replicated that I might be infringing, but he told me that it would be okay. I wish I had some of those brass ones now. They definitely had more of a kick to them in the lower mids.

I should know a price this week.
This is just the bridge assembly, no tailpiece.
They fit a standard tailpiece.
Lefties should cause no issues.

I can send a pdf of the model to anyone that wants to see that.

Thanks again, John!

I'm interested, Kevin. I'm not playing the 8 string much these days, but I should probably get your bridge while they're available.

Update Time.

Sorry I'm late getting back to this. Work and the holidays have me hoppin'.

The shop is going to start cutting these within a week or two and then it's off to plating.
The price is going to be around $200.00 +/-, but I don't have a firm # yet from the plater.

I'll keep you posted as info comes in.
