Did you add those walnut headstock wings? That's gotta be the nicest 68-up 4001 I've ever seen!
Good guess Dane! Right you are. Highly figured piece of Black Walnut, and a TON of patience! This was not a project to make a mistake on. Took me about 20 hours of work, with nearly all hand tools.
Certainly a looker, but an amazing player as well.

Stunning!

I like the J bass, too. I should have taken the white pickguard off my Arctic white one when I got it 20 years ago. Now it's yellowed a bit, so I'll just have to be satisfied getting a tortoise shell PG sometime in the near future.

Most beautious, Sean. That maple looks like it was meant for a 4002. Way before they made the 4002. Kudos.

Wonderful restoration, Sean! :D And yes, I did notice the walnut wings right away given this is not a 4002! Great pick on the wood used for them. 8)

Sean, I still have that BA and the plastic trim piece that were on it if you ever want to "restore" it.

Thanks guys... appreciate the comments. I haven't had the opportunity to take better pics than what I posted on page 2, but will do so over the next couple days.
Cheers
