I recently stumbled across this green 4001 on a website in Spain. Do you guys think this could be the original finish?

I doubt it is original, but it looks really nice!

I don't recall any 'Greenglo' from that era. Most likely a refin.

That is too cool, more like a "Greenburst"

Definitely a refinish. There were a few instruments in the late '60s that got a green-burst finish as experiments, but no production.

I think whoever did the refin did a decent job!

Refin. The burst pattern on the headstock is a dead giveaway. RIC don't do a dark-around-the-edges burst on headstocks.

Personally I never liked black-to-green bursts, but that's just me. Reminds me of the "Ideal" Beatle bass copies.

Refin or no (and I agree it is), that looks beautiful! The sort of finish option that, if RIC held a poll for suggestions for their next Colour of the Year, I'd definitely advocate! I'd buy it in an instant!

I always remembered Barry Devlin's (bass player with Irish band Horslips) custom "green-to-black-burst" Shamrock bass, built by John Birch, Birmingham, UK....

Nice! Much better colour than the Kermitglo colour of those green 360s!

Kinda like Currencyglo or Emeraldglo.... I'm not a huge fan of greenbursts but this one is better than any I've seen, looks very professionally done.

The black-to-green burst reminds me of this favorite, also a refin:
