Last call: need photos of Fireglo BT

Post by bassduke49 »

A few years ago, a fellow posted photos of perhaps the only Fireglo 4003 with black trim (binding, plastic, hardware). From my original plea, a guy named Don responded saying he had sold the bass. Anyone out there have it and can get me photos of it? I'd appreciate it!

There are two of these on the Register (unless it's two listings for the same bass):

Not hi-res photos, though. And info for basses is as respects sellers, not current owners.

Thanks, Ron. I had tried the registry with Fireglo BT and it didn't come up with anything. I should have gone with BH BT. Now if I could just get hi-res photos. I'm pretty sure these entries are for the same bass. There's a short longitudinal dark stripe in the grain just below the treble pickup surround on the control side. Seems it is there in both listings. I used the "download large format" on the photos and these may be good enough. Have to risk publishing without photographer's permission I guess.

Thanks, guys.

Both entries are "Collected Item" so none of the owners/sellers/buyers registered this bass.

Wow. I'm surprised there aren't more. That should be a standard option. Not a big fan of FG (sorry guys) but the BT/BH certainly makes it look very impressive.

Yeah, the black hardware and trim standard/option went away in 2002. Of course, Fireglo came standard with white binding and plastic and chrome hardware. But for a long time, you could get "reverse trim" option for $50 on an order and have the "other" trim applied. During the late '80s and into the '90s, black binding, plastic, and hardware were STANDARD on colors such as Red, Midnight Blue, White, Silver, and even Mapleglo! You had to pay $50 to get white and chrome on those colors during that period! Similarly, you could get the black stuff on the other colors for the extra fee, even on Jetglo. So while the BT BH (black trim, black hardware) option was the reverse trim available for Fireglo, this, so far, is the only example that I've come across.
