2nd Edition progress

Post by bassduke49 »

I'm just about done with the corrections, mods, and additions to the 2nd Edition of the book. I told publisher Hal-Leonard Books that I would have it by the end of February, and it looks like I'll be close to that, maybe a few days late. Thanks to all who sent photos of their special Ricks. I used a lot of shots, but not everything I received, so my apologies in advance.

Here's what you can look forward to:

16 more pages:
Two pages added to the 4005 chapter
Two pages added to the 4003 chapter
Two pages added to the 4003S chapter
New four-page chapter on Special Order Rick basses (for dealer/distributors)
Six pages added to Customs, mods, and one-offs chapter
At least 34 new photos (but two or three old ones replaced)
Updated information on the W and SW basses, and more
Revamped cover
Some pages redesigned and repositioned

Not to mention corrections of minor fudgeups in the 1st Edition

Other highlights: Photos of Geddy Lee with Ricks (which, sadly, I was not able to obtain for the first edition) :D
Recent photo of the James Kirkland "Blue Boy" bass :(
Photo of the lefty Tuxedo :D
Photo of one (or two) fretless 4003S/5

Don't know at this point of the price, but suspect it will be higher. It's not up to me; the publisher figures all of that out. I suspect they'll shoot for a June release as that was when the first edition was released (2013 - four years ago! ).

Here we go!

The 2nd Edition went to the publisher today. Don't know what the printing schedule will be, but if it is anything like it was the first go-round, the book should release in June. Maybe sooner. Now I can relax a bit. 8)

I'm still enjoying my recently purchased 1sr edition, and now I'm looking forward to the next edition.
What a great book!
Thanks again Paul.

You are! But a bit smaller. Instead of two players on that page, there are now four including yourself and Geddy Lee! :D

Ha! So I will still have at least one of my basses in the book. :-) (You won't Chris. ;-) )
