Wanna Walnetto?

Post by 59jazz »

Recent acquisition from Bruce at Wildwood Guitars. '17 4003SW @ 8.5lbs, featuring a Tubeampology pup bezel, Pickguardian pg, home made trc and an oem bridge modded by Dane Wilder. Next mod will be a set of HB-1s and a Wilder harness......maybe even an unlined bloodwood fingerboard.

Nicely done, Stephen! I like those Walnut SW basses, they've really grown on me in recently months. I too had a good experience dealing with Bruce at Wildwood --looks like you scored a t shirt as well!

I wouldn't be surprised if Woody tries to buy this bass from you, I think he really likes the Walnut basses, especially with the gold pick guards and such...

Gene- :D
Very Nice indeed,Stephen! I've wondered what a gold pg/trc would look like on the 4003sw,and the results are great!
So,you're also thinking of making it fretless?

Nice avatar too, Stephen... Is that Eugene Levy, the guy that was "Count Floyd" on SCTV's Monster Chiller Horror Theatre?

Yes Gene......I was a big fan of "Bobby Bitman" on SCTV. Count Floyd was
Played by Joe Flaherty. I just may convert it to
Fretless. I've always wanted a
Mid 80's fretless, but are hard to find so..........$1300 bass and $20 for an
FB blank and we're good to go. Also not sure if the original
FLs are down in the 8lb range.

D'oh! I got my SCTV actors confused there, but both had some classic moments on that show!
I remember the Bobby Bitman character too, with the ciggy perpetually in hand, and the "How are ya!" routine...
He always seemed to wear the most tasteful leisure suits, as well

Nice bass, I love the Walnut S basses, I'll bet it'll be beautiful as a fretless, with a rosewood board.

I'd be really happy if I could find a Chechen board like the one on my '14 4003 MG. Yeah when I visit
My best friend in Santa Cruz, we always greet each other with a hardy "how are ya"!

Sctv was my not-so-guilty pleasure back in the day. (Along with the Kids in the Hall.)

I feel really bad, Stephen, that I've hijacked your thread about your cool bass. I feel very guilty...

But Lola Hetherton doesn't...and neither does Johnny LaRue!
