Ric 3000 neck/neck pocket

Post by flosspick »

Does anyone have any information on why the neck hangs over the neck pocket on the ric 3000?

It's like the pocket is too narrow for the neck and it just kinda hangs off

We need to see clear, in focus, photos to see what the problem is to properly assess this, thanks. I think I know what's up, but without those photos .................

Oh, thought you meant the fretboard.

I can only assume the reason is that it's a budget, bolt-on, hand-made, bass from the 1970's. I mean, right?

I was looking at the pictures & thinking how strange. Then I picked up my Danelectro Longhorn bass & realized the neck hung over on both sides .

Alex, any photos of the same area with the neck attached?

As to whether this is normal, I have never seen any 3000 series basses in person, nor any photos (that I recall) of the back side showing the neck pocket area, so I don't know if this is normal, or not.

It's the design. There's a curve in the cutaway that extends past the point where it (the curve) meets the neck. Not an issue, not a problem. The neck doesn't "hang over the pocket" and the joint is absolutely as solid as any other bolt-on neck. Just play the dang thing! (or -- just buy it, if that's your issue)
