What is a fair price for a used 4004L in excellent condition

Not sure of the year of manufacture(serial isn't listed) but it has a bubinga or caribbean rosewood board, mapleglo finish, and the neck pickup is right up against the end of fretboard. It is priced at $2000, but that seems a little high to me... What say you, Forumites?

Yep, asking prices online are typically insane. List is 2459. In the good old days I paid 65% of list for a new Rick. These days it's a tad higher. Used though, maybe half? I think 4004's are cool, but wouldn't pay more than 1200 for less than mint. Reverb has a '15 4004L MG for 1500... that's not too terribly outrageous compared to some of the ebay dreamers, but I'd definitely come in lower and see how they react.

There's one on eBay now from Sam Ash Music for $1500.

Can't hurt to give them a call and make them an offer.

The 4004 series has never really caught on in a big way with consumers,so i am always surprised to see folks hawking used ones at $2k+ prices. I bought my first one 8(?) years ago for $1600,and fell in love. (An ‘04 Cii).
Since then,i’ve gradually accumulated 4 more, paying a low of $1k apeice for my last 2 (both JG Laredos),and $1800 for my Ci. I’ve only ever bought my Ricks used. The most i’ve ever spent on a bass was for My custom Laredo, and it was still slightly under $2k. (Money well spent,as it is still my all-time favorite bass!)
Here’s my current collection, with the latest addition being the 2000 JG Laredo with “lowered” pickup positions and a very figured maple fretboard. I bought it in August from the original owner, and it is in pristine condition. The deals are out there if you can find them!

Considering the asking prices of many, that was fair.
The JETGLO finish name should be officially changed to JETGLO ROCKS! :-)
