Differences between 4000S and 4003W
Looking to add a 4003w to my collection, but having a hard time finding one locally. I do have a local dealer dangling a 4003s and noting the body contouring I was looking for some definitive differences between it and the 4003W. I have an 82 4001 and an 01 4003, so I wanted to keep with the same body/style so to speak. Probably will wait out the W, but figured to see what notable differences in the sound would be before I ruled it out completely, price is really good so it is tempting. Thanks.

Welcome Mike! The differences are really as simple as they seem.
1) Contouring
2) mono vs mono+ROS (stereo)
3) weight! (the 4003SW is super light if you can find one!)
4) finish maintenance
5) fretboard material perhaps? inlays?

What is a 4000S?
Guess you meant a 4003S,but not sure what you’re really asking. Also, there is an S version of the Walnut 4003 as well.
The walnut basses are for sure lighter in weight, and the oil finish feels fabulous.

Thanks for the info, located a W and went with it even though I had a great price on a S locally, had my heart set on the W so had to go with it.
