Buying Rickenbacker bass strings in Canada ( & partiall USA)

Post by Webpirate »

How to buy Rickenbacker bass strings in Canada in 7 easy steps.

1) Go to the only Rickenbacker dealer in Canada(Long & Mcquade) and find out that they don't stock them or carry them and can't get them.
2) Go to Rickenbacker.com and read they don't ship to Canada.
3) Go to Amazon.ca and read "This item is currently unavailable".
4) Go to Amazon.com and read "This item does not ship to Canada"
5) Go to miriads of websites that do ship to Canada but charge more than the strings cost to ship to Canada.
6) Discover a website called Sam Ash that is cheaper than the Rickenbacker store and all other online stores and will ship to USA for free. ($26.99us)
7) Ask a Friend who lives in the USA if you can ship something to her and have her arrange cheaper shipping.

Done!

Get the balanced tension ones though. I think they're actually EXL170BT'S.

Should I return the exl190? I've never used anything but Rickenbacker or boomers.

Well, I prefer the 170BT's because the tension for each string is real close to thae same at 40lbs. The gauges are 45/60/80/107, while the more standard gauges of the 190's and even standard 170's are quite a bit lower on the E and G strings.
