"To sell or not to sell..."
I find myself between the proverbial "rock and a hard place".
I am needing to generate funds for a medical procedure, and therefore am considering selling my cherished Rick bass. Here's its listing in the Register:
http://www.rickresource.com/register/vi ... lebrity%3D
(...if I decide to go ahead and sell, I'd naturally have better pics available)
I'd ask two things of my fellow forumites:
Tell me why I should/shouldn't sell...
And (moistened finger to the wind), what is the current "interest level" in these C64S's?
Thanks for your un-biased, disinterested input!

It's just wood, metal, plastic. It can be replaced.
Taking care of yourself, family and friends are what's important, not the "stuff"
That said, If it was something I used often, I would try to sell something else first.
I'm looking at building a new house in the next year or so, and would seriously consider selling my '67 RM to help fund it if needed. It doesn't get played much and I'm really more into my old P-bass.

I had one and I sold it.. got one again years later and still have it. Take care of yourself and know there will always be a chance for another one
Re: "To sell or not to sell..."
I'd sell it, but only in case I could sell it for a normal price so I wouldn't have to feel bad about that too.
Anyway, that's what I did last year when I needed to.
Take your time. Don't rush it.
Check out prices in the register, eBay and reverb

If you can explore other options to raise funds, I might think about those first. But if it's really down to the wire, objects are not as important as people.

Thanks to all for sharing your perspectives!
Re: "To sell or not to sell..."
After an extra few days of introspection and deliberation, I've decided to sell my "Three Amigos" along and end my days as a "sentimental quasi-collector". I've decided that I can do what needs to be done musically with more utilitarian (...and affordable) options.
I'm sure there'll be a few pangs of regret after the deed actually gets done, but "all good things...", as they say.
I'll be floating 'em on "the bay" in a few days, and probably share the links to the listings on this thread (if that's allowed).
Again, thanks to all who chimed in!

Re: "To sell or not to sell..."
Best of luck. Those are three beautiful basses. If I may be the first to offer a more affordable and utilitarian suggestion, I picked up a used Fender Aerodyne Jazz last year and it is my new fave. Really impressive range of tones available due to the p/j pickup configuration and the black with binding body conjures up a jetglo Rick. At least to me. Again good luck!
Re: "To sell or not to sell..."
Appreciate the suggestion, Matt!
I do have a pretty good idea of what I'll be going with if and when the basses sell... and what I've got in mind is similar to the Aerodyne concept at a slightly lower price point!
