When we first started going that route I used my GK MB500 as my DI. It was fine but I was running away from GK back to Fender Bass Amps.
The WA is a good option if you are used to that tone.

Everything is relative, I guess.
The WA is certainly larger and heavier than the DI box, and definitely won't fit in the gig bag with all the rest of the gig necessities!
It is NOT however a "heavy" amp in the vein of the Ampeg SVT's we regularly used to deal with in our "salad days"! :wink:
