Chris Squire's 1969 4001

Phil was polite but for security and peace of mind I sent my buddy Rich from We Sell Guitars LTD to pickup, inspect and pack the bass for me. Rich drove far to do this for me and I will forever be grateful to him. For the record Chris is selling the Bosendorfer piano which at the moment is in my home. It is by far the best playing and sounding piano I have touched. It is also cool looking and I have never seen anything like it. By the way, the pots in my '69 are from 1966 too.

thanks Kevin for confirming that 1966 pots may have come factory with the bass. solder is untouched for sure except for the two leeds off the pickup. please anyone with an extra 68-72 bobbin for sale i would love to purchase it

Chris and I spent three hours once at his storage with me helping him move things in and out. During this event he let me peak in his tool box to look for the removed parts off the Donovan bass I purchased from him. I studied each drawer carefully and found every part missing from the bass. Chris said that in his life he has never seen anyone get so excited and happy over some junky plastic and metal parts.

That's a different Phil. I've spoken to the one concerned before now and he was very pleasant; I tried to buy his 71 4001 (which I think is actually a 72) off him and whilst he wasn't selling it he offered to find one for me; unfortunately I never followed up on it. He actually runs Harris Hire, which hires out vintage and collectable guitars. He's got some very nice stuff.

The neck is fantastic and it has the best sounding toaster of any I have heard.

Is the middle picture Chris's RM when it still had the 'wallpaper' on it, before the yellow paint job..?

Yes. You can just make out the brace around the nut that held the broken headstock together before the suitable repairs were made.
