Nice Bird!! Once again you have nailed Chris' essence. I've always loved this bass part, and you show it off with aplomb. Kudos!

Wowzers, Miguel!

As usual, I am stunned by three things:

>the ingenuity of Chris' original bass line
>the amazing way that you play the exact line
>the way that you artfully film and edit your performance!

I am amazed at your talent and determination. Thanks so much for sharing this! It has increased my understanding and enjoyment of this wonderful song!

About the clip - it's a 1990 Tbird, brand new rotosounds, preamp out of my Ampeg SVT-II pro, Herco Flex 75 pick.
Probably the AMpeg needs new valves (not sure if the power or the pre stage - or both) because the preamp output was low (so it must be from the preamp valves).
I shot a few takes from different angles and then edited.

Thank you very much for your comments!

Miguel.. awesome as usual. In this video, at least to me.. really demonstrates his thumb then pick playing style. Are you consciously trying to do that? I also have always loved the solo at the end this song.. a jam unto himself really..Bravo dude.

Thank you very much, Greg. I guess you saw the clip right after I uploaded it :) Usually I post here first thing after the upload becomes public on YT.

That's right. It sounds a lot like the "millisecond" technique that Chris described. That effect that becomes more perceptible because there are sections where the bass is alone. I never managed to do it consistently like Chris. Maybe because I don't have such a powerful thumb :) I do a slightly different adaptation of Chris' technique (at least from what I get from his own description and sound).

Great stuff as usual. BTW, did you see that Gibson reissued the non-reverse model? Of course it doesn't look exactly like it did originally so it's pretty much a non-reverse version of the modern bird.

Here's my T-Birds, a '76 Gibson and a custom non-reverse built my Marko Ursin with pickups made by Rami Hakala. The non-reverse nails the Squire's sound much better than the '76. '76 has different pickups (sidewinders) and were also wired in series when both pickups are on and sounds different than any other 'bird. I must say I prefer the custom 'bird.
