Imagine three acoustic guitars, one bass and one singer
I would love to have been there!
Re: Imagine three acoustic guitars, one bass and one singer
Cool! Thanks for posting that!
I have NO idea what to do with those skinny stringed things... I'm just a bass player...
Re: Imagine three acoustic guitars, one bass and one singer
Very cool! Thanks!
So, Tony with his funk fingers of course...are the other three the California Guitar Trio?

Yes. I have seen them a few times now, what an amazing group of musicians. We last saw them the first weekend of December (a few weeks ago) and I had a nice "gearhead" chat with them, they are very much into all of it. I told them about my unique Martin and Bert, in particular, was very into it as he has some nice old Martins, and some vintage Gibsons, to go along with his H&S and Somogyi. Paul gave me a "special" CGT pick that magcally makes me an amazing guitarist, too!Billsbro wrote:..are the other three the California Guitar Trio?

Great video! I've seen three fifths of that grouping, right here in the Zoo. How cool it would have been to have Jon sing it.
Re: Imagine three acoustic guitars, one bass and one singer
I've never seen Tony live, but after hearing him play on an actual YES song, I now realize how much better it would have been to see him tour with ABW&H. Jeff Berlin is a monster player, but the sound he INSISTS on applying to EVERYTHING he plays didn't do classic YES songs any favor. I knew he had played bass on the studio ABW&H and have him playing on the video promo for Brother of Mine that comes with the ABW&H DVD.

Wow a great performance with incredible timing. It would be a thrill to see live.
Life, as with music, often requires one to let go of the melody and listen to the rhythm

Re: Imagine three acoustic guitars, one bass and one singer
I got to see CGT do this song in Memphis a few years ago, without Tony Levin, and one of the guitarists played all of Jon's vocal melodies. It was a very cool version of the song. This version is really great, and Jon sounds in excellent voice! (Is this a recent performance?). I did also see ABWH on their US tour's opening night in Memphis (weird, huh?) with TL,and he sounded great on the Yes classics.(as well as the new material he created the basslines for). He went for the crunchy tone, and the funkfingers really gave his sound an edge.

From the description this performance was at the NAMM Show of '05.
